The actress is best known for her role as school counsellor Emma Pillsbury in Glee and also plays Grace in The Smurfs.
Asked what might surprise people about her, Mays told Metro: "I absolutely love horror films. I don't know if it's the pull of good and evil and the apocalypse that really intrigues me but I really love zombie films.
"They make me really scared but there's something about that adrenaline rush. Maybe it's similar to the one you get from auditions. It's like being an adrenaline junkie in a mental capacity. I love that feeling of being so scared I think I'm going to die."
Quizzed on what else scares her, she replied: "Everything. I was on a run the other day and saw a rattlesnake. I was terrified.
"I saw a coyote first and wasn't scared of that because I see them all the time but then I saw this snake and thought, 'What is going on today?' I ended my run early. I thought it was a sign there might be a mountain lion around the next corner."
