The X Factor judge is also said to have a number of strange demands for anybody wanting to work with her.
Each assistant must carry a tape recorder "because [Abdul] doesn't trust her own conversations", an insider told Us Weekly.
The source added: "She also makes them check the TiVo for any mention of her and put it on a DVD."
Abdul also allegedly requires her assistants to tell her that she is a "warrior, survivor and gift" throughout the day.
Abdul's X Factor co-star Simon Cowell recently revealed that the talent competition might as well have been cancelled without the 'Forever Your Girl' singer, admitting that he was desperate to sign the former American Idol judge to the show.
Earlier this month, Cowell compared his friendship to Abdul to owning a pet dog, saying that she becomes angered if she is not allowed to sit next to him during The X Factor.
