Tina Fey has given birth to her second daughter, it has been announced.

The 30 Rock star, who already has a 5-year-old daughter named Alice, welcomed Penelope Athena to the family on Wednesday with her composer husband Jeffrey Richmond, People reports.

Speaking to Oprah Winfrey when announcing her pregnancy in April, she said: "My husband and I really decided that we felt rather than risk having 30 Rock end in several years and feeling like part of our family is missing, that we were going to prioritise our family."

The actress more recently announced plans to take a break following her pregnancy before returning to work.

"I'm hoping to have a little bit of a breather before the season starts," she said. "I hope I'll get some time off to you know, care for/feed the baby."

Fey was recently nominated for 'Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series' at the 2011 Primetime Emmy Awards, which will be held on September 18.
