The Voice coach and Maroon 5 singer said in an interview with Out Magazinethat, despite being straight, he has no problem admitting when he finds another man attractive, and feels that blurring the lines of his orientation are part of his job as a rock musician.
"I'm extremely comfortable in my sexuality, so I can think, 'Oh, that's a good-looking dude'. Acknowledging that someone's attractive and wanting to f**k a dude are two different things," Levine explained.
"There's no way to hide my straightness but if people didn't think there was a small chance I was gay, then I wouldn't be doing my job very well. Look at the best ones, guys whose sexuality was always questioned. Bowie. Jagger. Freddie Mercury. I wouldn't be the frontman of a band if that question hadn't come up at some point."
Levine also revealed that his family has always been accepting of alternative sexualities and have always supported his brother, who is gay.
"I can single-handedly dispel any ideas that sexuality is acquired. Trust me, you're born with it," he joked. "My brother is gay, and we knew when he was 2. We all knew."
Levine recently accused American Idol of not allowing their contestants to be openly gay.
