Gerard Depardieu 'delays flight by urinating on plane'

Gerard Depardieu reportedly delayed an airplane flight by several hours on Tuesday when he urinated on the floor.

A passenger on a Paris to Dublin flight claimed to Europe-1 that an apparently inebriated Depardieu shouted "I need to piss" and then relieved himself on the floor prior to take-off.

A spokesperson for airline City Jet confirmed to The AP that a passenger was escorted off one of its aircraft by security after urinating in the plane, but declined to name Depardieu as the offender for privacy reasons.

City Jet later seemed to make light of the incident in a series of Twitter messages: "As you may have seen on the news, we are busy mopping the floor of one of our planes this morning...

"We'd also like to remind all passengers that our planes are fully equipped with toilet facilities..."

A rep for Depardieu has not commented on the report.

Depardieu has been one of France's most prominent film stars for more than 30 years, garnering Oscar, BAFTA and César nominations.

Last year, the Potiche actor sparked controversy by insisting that Juliette Binoche was "nothing" in comparison with French actresses Isabelle Adjan and Fanny Ardent .

Binoche responded by saying that she was "surprised" by Depardieu's remarks and could not understand "the violence" of his words.
