The One Day actress told Chelsea Handler in the new issue of Interview magazine that she had been fascinated by April's royal wedding despite initially being "cynical" about the event.
Hathaway said: "Right now, I'm obsessed with Kate Middleton. Obsessed. I loved the royal wedding.
"I was so cynical going into it and pseudo-political about the whole thing, but as soon as I saw her I was utterly charmed. I'm just completely enchanted by Kate and William. With everything she's doing right now, I say, 'Yay, Kate'."
Hathaway went on to tell Handler that she watched the Westminster Abbey nuptials with a friend in London and the defining moment for her had been when the Duchess of Cambridge let go of her father's hand to approach her husband-to-be.
Dark Knight Rises star Hathaway also said that she has been impressed by how the couple have "struck a really amazing balance between having a completely normal private life and understanding the responsibilities that their positions require".
As for whether she could marry into royalty and go on "public display" herself, she told Handler: "If I loved someone enough and they were into having that balance, yeah, I could see myself doing it."

In a separate interview with USA Today, the actress said she was "grateful" to the Duchess of Cambridge "because she is such an advocate for dressing like a lady"
She explained: "I think for a few years that kind of slightly dirty look was adopted by Hollywood - you know, the stringy hair, homeless thing... I'm just very grateful to Kate Middleton for making looking appropriate really fun again. So right now my fashion choices are all about Kate Middleton."
Hathaway took on the role of the Duchess of Cambridge in an SNL skit following the royal engagement last year. The sketch saw the then-fiancée of Prince William meeting The Queen and Prince Philip at Buckingham Palace.
