Kate Winslet saves Richard Branson's mother from fire

Kate Winslet has saved Sir Richard Branson's mother's life, it has been revealed.

The Mildred Pierce actress was a guest at Branson's Caribbean home with her children and her boyfriend Louis Dowler when a fire broke out on the property on Monday morning.

While everyone is said to have escaped unharmed, Branson later admitted that the house had been "completely destroyed".



Posting on his blog following the incident, the entrepreneur thanked Winslet for helping his mother escape the blaze, writing: "Many thanks to Kate Winslet for helping to carry my 90-year[-old] mum out of the main house to safety.

"She was wondering when a director was going to shout 'Cut!'"

Branson also revealed plans to rebuild the property, adding: "We will rebuild the house as soon as we can. We have a wonderful staff here and we want them to stay in work. We'll all stay here. There's a lot of damage but we'll create something even more special out of the ruins."
