Shane Warne has accused the paparazzi of photoshopping images of him to make him look fake.

The Australian former cricketer, who is rumoured to be engaged to model and actress Elizabeth Hurley, said that the way the media are trying to portray him as a plastic-surgery loving celebrity is a "disgrace".

After various members of the public expressed outrage to Warne that he looked "photoshopped" in certain magazine shots, the sports star wrote on his Twitter page: "Glad you guys are working out that certain news outlets are distorting photos of me - it's a disgrace just like the phone hacking situation.

"So my crime is that I'm fitter, healthier and happier than at any stage of my life.. Not on what some people are doing and writing-fed up! I have&never will let certain sections of the media who distort pic's and stories get to me-I'm in a great place Thanks for support-all good. (sic)"

The next day, Hurley responded to various fans who congratulated her and Warne on their relationship, telling her boyfriend on the microblogging site: "It's nice that people think we make a great couple - thanks guys - we are very happy together! Miss you."

Hurley also recently jumped to Warne's defence after various people claimed that he has had cosmetic procedures and likes wearing eyeliner, saying: "[He] does not wear eye makeup or have an 'eye liner tattoo'... his eyes were born that way."
