The 26-year-old Redmond was arrested on August 2 when police found heroin in his car during a routine traffic stop.
Police later discovered a gun while searching Redmond's home. Redmond is banned from owning firearms under the terms of his probation for a separate drug arrest.
Redmond originally entered a not guilty plea to felony drug and weapons charges, but agreed to plead no contest during a court hearing on Wednesday.
He was sentenced to five years of probation and ordered to spend one year in a live-in drug rehabilitation centre, AFP reports.
Redmond's half-sister Tatum expressed happiness that he had avoided jail time, writing on Twitter: "I am glad that Red got treatment. Jail would not have helped him. Please I pray now he will want to be sober."
Two other drug charges against Redmond were dropped in August 2010 after he completed a stint in a drug diversion centre.
