Whoopi Goldberg adopts abused kitten

Whoopi Goldberg has adopted an abused kitten that was featured on The View.

The actress and co-host of the ABC talkshow was touched by a story that ran on The View in July featuring the grey kitten, who had been thrown out of a moving vehicle and off the Verrazano Bridge in New York City.

Goldberg shared the news on her official Facebook page along with a video of the pet relaxing at her apartment on Monday.

"For all of you who remember me on The View meeting Verrazano, the kitten who was thrown out the window of a moving car on the Verrazano Bridge. I adopted him and I was finally able to take him home," she wrote.

Goldberg added that her adult cat Oliver was resistant to the new addition, adding: "His nickname is 'Vinny'. Oliver's not too happy but Vinny is having the time of his life. I think he'll get Oliver to come around sooner than later."

The View co-panellist Sherri Shepherd recently married TV writer Lamar Sally in Chicago.
