Rachel Weisz gives birth to boy

Rachel Weisz and fiancé Darren Aronofsky's have welcomed the birth of their first child.

The Oscar-winning actress gave birth to a boy on in New York on Wednesday. Requiem for a Dream director Aronofsky said last month he was looking forward to the birth, and praised Weisz for avoiding strange cravings.

"I was expecting all the weird things," he said. "There's this jar of pickles sitting in the fridge. It's been there for months and she hasn't even eaten one."

Weisz' spokeswoman Kelly Bush confirmed the birth and said mother and baby were both "happy, healthy, wonderful". No other details have been released.
