Zoe Saldana: 'I didn't have a breakdown after Avatar'

Avatar star Zoe Saldana has rubbished claims that she had a breakdown after making the film.

The actress was quoted as saying that life following production of the movie was "emotionally overwhelming" and that she "couldn't stop crying".

However, she has since insisted that her words were taken out of context, clarifying that she was simply exhausted after travelling the world to promote Avatar.

"It was definitely misconstrued, the statement that I made," she told Access Hollywood Live. "It was such a beautiful rollercoaster and we had no idea we were going to break records on so many levels and that this movie was gonna touch so many hearts from all over the world.

"We started the whole world tour and you're expelling so much energy, so that by the time the awards season was over my body just needed to relax. It was kind of like shutting down.

"It was such an emotional thing and I do know that everybody from, like, the director, the producer and the rest of the cast went away with their families afterwards and they kind of hid for a while because you needed to refuel. There was no nervous breakdown. It was just a beautiful journey that exhausted me."

Saldana recently admitted that she only learnt to drive after her family staged "an intervention".
