The reality television star, who gave birth to son Hank Jr two years ago with her professional American football player husband Hank Baskett, said that her battle with postpartum depression got "pretty bad".
Wilkinson told People magazine: "I felt like I had to be a different person. I had to be conservative and wear turtlenecks and be someone that I wasn't. Now that I have my body back and I feel good again, I have the perfect amount of balance. It's all about finding the balance.
"[Postpartum depression] got pretty bad, [but] not to the point where I would harm my family. I was a great mum and did what I needed to, but I was definitely very depressed. [Motherhood is] a big change in life and it happened overnight."
Wilkinson continued: "[Motherhood's] a whole different life, but a better life. Your baby is number one 100% of the time, but I do still take 'me' time - you need to do that every now and then. I'm more aware of life."
In May this year, Wilkinson revealed that she is currently writing a book on motherhood and also said that she would like to have a second child.
