Sarah Michelle Gellar: 'Being a working mother is hard'

Sarah Michelle Gellar has said that she finds it "difficult" to balance motherhood and career.

The Ringer star, who welcomed daughter Charlotte Grace with husband Freddie Prinze Jr in 2009, said that parenting is one of the most difficult jobs in existence.

Gellar told Entertainment Weekly: "It's been difficult. My hat goes off to any working parent. It is the hardest to juggle.

"I know my job is by no means the hardest in the world, but to any parents, again, it is so difficult because you're trying to focus so hard but you're always wondering, 'What's my child doing? Are they okay? Did they eat their lunch? Did they eat their vegetables? Did they take their nap?' It's how to separate both of them."

Gellar recently confirmed that she will return to ABC soap opera All My Children for a one-off guest appearance before the show's cancellation next month.

Gellar took a two-year hiatus following Charlotte's birth but has insisted that she is enjoying filming Ringer even though she did not feel fully prepared to return to work.
