Lewis Hamilton denies Nicole Scherzinger engagement: 'We're happy as we are'

Lewis Hamilton has played down reports that he is due to marry girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger.

The Formula 1 star claimed during the first edition of Jonathan Ross's new ITV chat show that the couple are satisfied with the current state of their relationship.

Asked by Ross if rumours of his engagement to Scherzinger are true, the 26-year-old replied: "I don't know about that. No, no, we are quite happy where we are."

Hamilton also revealed that the former Pussycat Doll regularly sings to him during performances, further explaining: "There are some songs, like 'Jai Ho' for example... She always tells me that I inspired her to write that, so when she sings that, she always says, 'This is for you'."

Hamilton continued to praise Scherzinger when Ross questioned whether he had been tempted by other women. The driver said: "When you have the most beautiful girl in the world then you don't need to [cheat]."

Hamilton and Scherzinger were the subject of engagement reports back in May, after which the X Factor USA judge wrote on Twitter: "Sorry to disappoint u all but its not true."
