Ant McPartlin has attempted to downplay his pub attack from earlier this year.

The Red Or Black? host was reportedly punched in the face on a trip to The Barley Mow, Chiswick back in May after being asked about his "boyfriend", a reference to professional partner Dec Donnelly.

McPartlin's attacker later stated that he was "not sorry" for his actions, but the I'm A Celebrity presenter today attempted to conclude the incident by dismissing it as "a bit of handbags".

"Oh, he was an idiot," he recalled to the Daily Mail. "It was just a scuffle in a pub, a bit of… handbags. Nine times out of ten, people are nice to us."

When asked whether such taunts were regular occurrences, Donnelly claimed: "We're not seen as a threat to other blokes, I think that's the key. We have a laugh and take the mick out of each other. It's like most mates."

McPartlin insisted soon after the attack that he would not "be scared off" returning to his local.
