The Sex and the City actor has joined up with the American Diabetes Association's Ask Screen Know (ASK) programme, which aims to raise awareness of the disease in order for Americans to get tested early.
Noth revealed that while he is not diabetic, the disease is close to his heart after a close friend was diagnosed in the past.
"A friend of mine was seriously, seriously diabetic and he didn't know it," he told New York City station NY1. "He had some of the obvious signs. He was obese, fatigued. I, at the time, just thought, 'Go to the gym, dude, go get in shape or something'.
"But another friend of ours who happened to be a doctor said, 'No, no, no, you've got to get screened, because this, it's not just that you are obese. There are other things about this that don't seem right'."
Noth will film a series of television advertisements for the charity campaign.
The Good Wife star has been linked with television drama Titanic: Blood and Steel.
