The Contagion actor is currently appearing in Anna Christie's London run and sources have told the New York Post that Law will also head the cast in next year's American revival.
The insider also suggested that Law's London co-star Ruth Wilson will take part in Anna Christie's Broadway staging.
Legendary playwright Eugene O'Neill's tale of a good-hearted prostitute first debuted in 1921 and later spawned several feature film adaptations.
Law most recently starred on Broadway in Hamlet, which earned him a Tony Award nomination in 2010.
In August, it was announced that Law and Rachel Weisz's new movie 360 will open the 55th BFI London Film Festival in October.
Contagion, starring Law and Gwyneth Paltrow, opens on September 9 in US cinemas and on October 21 in the UK.
