Hugh Jackman has admitted that he enjoyed being "heavier" than normal while filming Real Steel.
The actor plays ex-boxer-turned-trainer and promoter Charlie Kenton in director Shawn Levy's futuristic film, which sees robots replace humans in the boxing ring. Speaking to Men's Health about his role, Jackman said that he did not need to be as fit as he would be for Wolverine.

Explaining that he struggles "to put weight on", the 43-year-old said: "I was about 10lb heavier than I normally would be. It was kind of nice to have a beer now and again."
However, Jackman revealed that switching to "tiring" boxing training for the movie had left him feeling "amazing".
Discussing his role as Wolverine in X-Men and its spinoffs, he said: "Every time I do Wolverine, I learn and understand more about my body and what I need. I know now that there's only so much I can take.
"I'll absolutely know my career is over when I go in for a boxing session and get the s**t beaten out of me, and the other guy won't care."
Jackman also admitted that he was left "starstruck" after sparring with former world champion Sugar Ray Leonard. "He hit me harder than anyone, and if he saw a camera around, those punches became a lot harder," the actor quipped.
The full interview with Hugh Jackman appears in the October issue of Men's Health, out now.
Real Steel opens in UK and US cinemas on October 7.
