Neil Diamond gets engaged to girlfriend

The 'Sweet Caroline' singer tweeted the news earlier today, revealing that he plans to wed his co-manager Katie McNeil.
"Good news coming from sunny LA/ and you're the first I want to tell/ Katie & I just got engaged/ and I hope you wish us well. Neil. (sic)," Diamond wrote.
The 70-year-old then proceeded to upload a photograph of McNeil, admitting that he is smitten with her.
"I'd like you to meet Katie," Diamond continued. "I'm lovestruck. I took this photo in London last month."
In 2009, McNeil produced a documentary about the singer titled Neil Diamond: Hot August Night NYC.
Earlier this year, Diamond was honoured with the 'Icon Award' at the 2011 Billboard Awards.
In November, the singer revealed that he enjoys the "instant gratification" that he receives from his fans via Twitter, saying that the website has helped him to connect with his fans from around the world.
