Elisabetta Canalis on George Clooney split: 'Break-ups are a personal failure'

Elisabetta Canalis has spoken out on her break-up with ex-boyfriend George Clooney.

The model, who recently signed on to appear in the upcoming season of Dancing with the Stars, announced her split from Clooney in June after two years of dating.

In a new interview with the Italian magazine Chi, Canalis admitted that she found ending the relationship to be a difficult experience.

"At the end of the day I have always seen the end of my relationships as a personal failure. There is nothing ever pretty in saying goodbye," the 32-year-old explained.

Canalis went on to claim that she is often drawn to men who are "cold and controlled".

"I'm a bit of a tomboy, but when it comes to love I am a doormat. I'm looking for men who can give me security," she said.

"I have always seen cold and controlled men as the right ones for me. You have to accept that Prince Charming who is coming to save you is not going to happen - it works against you."

Clooney and Canalis began dating in June 2009 after being introduced by a mutual friend in Rome.
