The Radio 1 DJ blamed not having "any boobs" for being unable to wearing certain shapes of dresses. Speaking to Cosmopolitan, Cotton said that she wants to "look my best" for her new boyfriend, model and musician Jesse Wood.
"I don't have any boobs, so I can't wear beautiful dresses - I look like a boy in them. The glamorous shapes of the '70s suit me more, in that kind of floaty, bohemian way," she said. "I like to get my legs out but not my arms. But that's the beauty of fashion. There's something out there for every shape going.
"I'm in a new relationship and I want to look my best. You get a new-found confidence, and your clothes usually reflect that. But if you can prolong that feeling where you still want to make an effort, it's brilliant."
Cotton continued: "Never get over that stage, actually. Stay a lady forever! When it comes to guys, I don't like suits. Jeans, Converse and a T-shirt is a winning look - you can't go wrong!"
"I've just turned 30 and I have the confidence to know what I'm good at and the things I should leave alone. It's a magical feeling. I'm in the best place I've ever been," she said.
