Jessie Wallace's ex-fiancé has said that the actress was right to dump him.

Vince Morse described how the EastEnders star asked the couple's wedding planner to inform him that the ceremony was off, after she discovered he'd sent an explicit image of her to a former partner.

Wallace initially agreed to go through with the marriage, but changed her mind just five hours before they were due to wed, the catering boss told the Sunday Mirror.

"The wedding planner rang me and said, 'Jessie's called, she says it's off'. I knew she wouldn't change her mind," he said. "She trusted me implicitly and I utterly betrayed her. I'm so ashamed. It took a lot of courage for her to call off the wedding. She did the right thing by dumping me. But now I'm begging her for her forgiveness and hoping she will still marry me.

"I was drunk and this person was being suggestive and I was stupid enough to go along with it. At the time it was fun, it was sexy, it was flirty, it was naughty. Any other bloke in the country wouldn't have to sit here and explain themselves because he would wake up on Monday and think, 'What a stupid prat - delete that', and no one would ever say anything."

Speaking of the pair's £400,000 magazine deal, Morse continued: "Once the magazine got involved, they were making all sorts of demands. It stopped being fun because it all got too big and too involved. It took all the childish fun out of the relationship a little bit. You become consumed by doing one thing and it's not healthy."

He added that he has spoken briefly to Wallace everyday, but confessed that they have made little progress on mending their relationship.

"Things don't look great at the moment but it doesn't stop me loving her and it doesn't stop her loving me," he concluded.

Meanwhile, Wallace is said to have spiralled into meltdown in Greece, where she is holidaying following the split.
