Kate Middleton has been named 'Queen of high street fashion' in a new poll.

In a survey of 3,000 Brits, shopping website VoucherCodes.co.uk compiled a list of the most and least popular celebrities. The Duchess of Cambridge pipped both Cheryl Cole and her sister Pippa to the top spot.

Girls Aloud star and former X Factor judge Cole placed second, while Pippa Middleton - who became a household name after serving as her sister's maid of honour at the royal wedding - had to settle for third position.

Coleen Rooney and The Saturdays singer Mollie King rounded out the top five.

"It's fantastic to see celebrities and even royals opting to shop on the high street, rather than splash out on expensive designer brands," the website's co-founder Duncan Jennings said.

"The impact of a high-profile celebrity such as Kate Middleton being seen in high street clothes has been proven to have a fantastic impact on sales, with some items selling out within hours. The shift towards high street retailers definitely makes celebrity trends more accessible for fans."

The 18-year-old beat joint second place Katie Price and Kerry Katona, ex-EastEnders actress Natalie Cassidy and Celebrity Big Brother housemate Amy Childs.
