'American Idol', Aerosmith star Steven Tyler's father Victor Tallarico dies, aged 95

American Idol judge Steven Tyler's father Victor Tallarico has died at the age of 95.

Victor was surrounded by friends and family when he passed away at an assisted living centre in Nashua, New Hampshire over the weekend.

An online obituary for Victor touted his love for his family: "Among Victor's proudest accomplishments were his offspring - Lynda, a retired teacher who resides in southern Vermont, and Steven, who, having been well launched into the music business by Victor, became famous as Steven Tyler, the lead singer of the rock band Aerosmith."

Steven's daughter Mia publicly mourned Victor on Twitter, revealing that her grandfather passed away peacefully.

Mia tweeted: "I just watched a 95 year old man pass away in the most beautiful of ways. Surrounded by family & love. RIP Papa You lived one hell of a life."

Steven has said that his father, a classically-trained pianist, first inspired him to become a musician when he was a child.

Victor's wife Susan died in 2008 at age 84.
