The True Blood star told late night host Jimmy Fallon that his Swedish family is ruled by his 82-year-old wheelchair-bound grandmother.
"She runs the clan with an iron fist," Skarsgård said.
The 35-year-old went on to say that the family is at the mercy of the older woman, claiming that she forces whomever is at home in Sweden to take her out every day.
"My whole extended family basically lives within five blocks of each other. And every day at five o'clock we roll Grandma out to the square," he said.
Finally, Skarsgård revealed that his grandmother loves to drink alcoholic beverages, insisting that the family has to keep her from consuming too much.
"And she wants more, but you can't have it all," he said.
Skarsgård recently admitted that he sometimes feels pigeonholed into the same type of role as his character on True Blood.
In July, he actor split from long-time girlfriend Kate Bosworth, with whom he stars in the upcoming remake of Straw Dogs.
