Franz Ferdinand support Africa campaign
Rock band Franz Ferdinand have shown their support for a charity campaign to provide free healthcare in Africa.

With G8 finance ministers meeting in Russia over the weekend, the band, along with a wealth of other celebrities, highlighted the importance of the campaign.

According to The Sun, singer Alex Kapranos said: "We take healthcare for granted. It's almost impossible to imagine not being able to see the doctor. It's horrific that there are children in the world in this situation."

Ferdinand drummer Paul Thompson added, "More than 250,000 African kids are dying every year because they can't afford to see a doctor. Let's stop it now."

The charity claims that scrapping medical fees in sub-Saharan Africa would only cost G8 £1 billion and thousands of lives would be saved.
