R Kelly sex video to be made public
Published Monday, Jun 12 2006, 11:36 BST | By Matthew Houghton
The sex video made by R Kelly around which 14 counts of child pornography revolve will be made viewable for the media and the public.
Judge Vincent Gaughan ruled that there was no "overarching interest" in banning the tape, in which the hip-hop star is allegedly having sex with a minor.
He reportedly said "This is the whole crux and linchpin of the case. If there was no tape, we wouldn't have a case."
Both sides initially believed that, in order to prevent casting further shame onto the girl, the tape should only be shown to jurors and the judge.
