Attorney Marty Singer has sent letters to websites including TheDirty urging them to remove what was described as "stolen copyright protected private photographs", TMZ reports.
Singer said: "The highly personal and private photographs at issue capture our client self-posing in her own home in a state of undress and/or topless.
"If you fail to comply, you will be acting at your own peril. Please govern yourselves accordingly."
TMZ added that TheDirty will comply with the warning and remove the photographs from its site.
It was reported yesterday that Johansson's representatives would contact the FBI over the alleged hacking of her mobile phone to source the naked pictures.
Actress Vanessa Hudgens, Fall Out Boy frontman Pete Wentz and singers Rihanna and Chris Brown are among the other stars who have had naked photos leaked on to the internet in recent years.
