The couple posted their wedding notice after meeting with Town Hall officials this week.
Superintendent Registrar Alison Cathcart described the meeting as "a bit last-minute", but said that she enjoyed meeting McCartney and Shevell.
"They were lovely, very relaxed and very charming and clearly in love with each other. They were excited," Cathcart told People.
Cathcart went on to say she was touched that McCartney has chosen the venue where he wed Linda, who passed away from cancer in 1998.
"It's such an iconic building, and part of that is the knowledge that Paul McCartney chose to marry [Linda] here, and to think that he's doing it again is just incredible," she added.
Fellow Beatle Ringo Starr and Liam Gallagher also got married at the Old Marylebone Town Hall.
The couple are allowed to marry at Old Marylebone Town Hall as early as September 30, but sources claimed that McCartney and Shevell will likely tie the knot in October.
Earlier this week, an insider denied that McCartney and Shevell were planning to wed this weekend at the musician's Sussex farmhouse.
McCartney and Shevell confirmed in May that they'd got engaged after dating for more than four years.
