The Damages actress, who was recently honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the San Sebastian International Film Festival, said during her acceptance speech that she has no plans to retire from showbiz in the near future.
Close said: "This is the first lifetime achievement award I've ever received. And what I am thinking of is the army of people I have collaborated with over the course of my career. They have inspired me. Challenged me... Everyone wants to believe something,
"We can remind people how connected we are. That, to me, is a privilege. I pledge to continue to find stories that I hope you will love and characters that you can find a common thread of humanity with."
Last summer, Close confessed that she was surprised to see that Damages had been renewed for an additional season, but was grateful to escape cancellation.
Mia Wasikowska, who stars with Close in the upcoming period drama Albert Nobbs, has praised the 64-year-old for her work in the film, admitting that she found inspiration in the older actress's approached to the craft.
