Shane Warne axes underwear collection

Shane Warne's men's underwear company has closed down.

The Australian former cricketer, who is currently in a relationship with model and actress Elizabeth Hurley, said that he still thought the Spinners range had been a success despite the fact that management firm Lime Door Brands went into voluntary liquidation.

Warne wrote on his Twitter page: "Spinners are winners. Congratulations to everyone at Spinners on a great job." He later wrote to his friend Russell Crowe and asked for his underwear size, adding: "Want to send you some more Spinners!"

Creditors of the ailing fashion consultancy, which also looks after Dita Von Teese's lingerie line, were scheduled to meet yesterday to discuss its future.

Shortly after Warne launched Spinners into stores such as Target, Big W, Lowes and Best and Less last year, he joked that he had been sending merchandise to fellow cricketer Michael Clarke in the hope that he might wear them.

"He sent them straight back and said, 'I've got my own', so that wasn't too good," Warne admitted. "I will keep continuing to sending them to him and bombarding him.''

He said of his fashion design career: "I have enjoyed my fashion and I sorta looked into since the last years of retiring what's the right way to start with it and I think getting up in the morning and putting on a pair of underpants is important to me."
