Wilson exited SNL in 2009 after only a single season on the series, but she told Soux City Journal that she was never upset over her brief tenure.
"It was an amazing experience, but I don't see it as home... nor do I think of it as baggage," Wilson declared.
"Someone said to me once, 'If you're on a major football team, you can say you've been in the huddle'. And that's a good way of looking at it. I'm so grateful."
Wilson went on to say she hopes to follow in the footsteps of SNL co-star Kristen Wiig, who co-wrote and starred in the box office smash Bridesmaids.
"My goal is to generate more material for myself," Wilson said.
Wilson currently stars in Happy Endings, which returns for a second season on Wednesday September 28 at 9.30/8.30c on ABC.
