Kerri-Anne Kennerley has revealed that she doesn't consider herself to be a big star.

The 58-year-old Australian television presenter, who has hosted her own breakfast show for eight years, said that the key to her longevity in the industry is her ability to be private and make people laugh.

Kennerley told The Sunday Telegraph: "I just go about it under the radar. I'm not a big cog in that wheel, I'm not a prime-time person. I've always just nicely held under the radar doing what I do.

"I just go out there and try to make people happy and deliver a good story, be accurate and entertaining and have an understanding for people's feelings - plus I think I have always been value for money and weight for age."

Kennerley also revealed that she feels thankful for the 46 years she has had in the entertainment industry and wishes she was young enough to relive her career again.

Last year, Kennerley hit back at rumours that she was quitting her morning programme and being replaced by Getaway host Catriona Rowntree.

"She's just one of a number of people who want the job," she said at the time. "I am not out of contract, [bosses] renamed the show after me and have spent quite a lot of money on it. I would think it unlikely." Rowntree later insisted that she did not want the job anyway.

Nine Network boss David Gyngell also said: "[Kennerley] is not only very good television but she turns a profit. They are the first two prerequisites of success in this game. So she's here to stay. Full stop."
