The Machete star met Plein for the first time only two days before posing for him on the shores of Lake Como on Sunday.
Lohan described Plein's collection as "edgy" and said that she is hopeful it will help change public opinion on her lifestyle.
"I think maybe people's perceptions of me have been kind of taken out of context just from what you see and read," she told reporters at Milan fashion week.
German designer Plein said that he is delighted to work with Lohan, adding: "For me, she's authentic, she's talented, she's beautiful."
The OC star Mischa Barton and Russian model Irina Antonenko have previously worked with Plein.
Last week, it was reported that Lohan was asked to leave Marc Jacobs's New York Fashion Week party at The Gallery.
She was also accused of throwing a glass at a photographer during V Magazine's 'Black And White' ball.
