'L Word' star Leisha Hailey kicked off plane for kissing girlfriend

L Word star Leisha Hailey and her girlfriend were allegedly kicked off an airplane for kissing.

Hailey posted on Twitter that she and her partner were asked to leave a Boston-bound Southwest Airlines flight when other passengers complained about their public display of affection.

The actress wrote: "I have been discriminated against by SouthwestAir. Flt attendant said that it was a 'family' airline and kissing was not ok. (sic)"

Hailey went on to accuse the Southwest staff of homophobia and asked her fans to join her boycott of the airline.

"This is an outrage," she said. "I demand a public apology by SouthwestAir and a refund. Hate is not a family value. I will never fly this airline. We were escorted off the plane for getting upset about the issue. SouthwestAir endorses homophobic employees. No-one made her accountable."

Southwest Airlines apologised for the incident in an official statement, which reads: "Initial reports indicate that we received several passenger complaints characterizing the behaviour as excessive. Our crew, responsible for the comfort of all customers on board, approached the passengers based solely on behaviour and not gender.

"The conversation escalated to a level that was better resolved on the ground, as opposed to in flight. We regret any circumstance where a passenger does not have a positive experience on Southwest and we are ready to work directly with the passengers involved to offer our heartfelt apologies for falling short of their expectations."

Hailey has not yet responded to Southwest Airlines's apology.

Earlier this month, Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong was ejected from a Southwest Airlines flight for wearing his pants too low.
