Midge Ure, one of the men behind Live Aid, and Joanna Lumley, of Absolutely Fabulous fame, both attended ceremonies to receive their qualifications.
Ure was honoured as a Doctor of Music at the University of Edinburgh, while Lumley is now a Doctor of Letters thanks to the University of St Andrews.
Lumley was thrilled by her degree, saying: "It is an astonishing thing - it is absolutely brilliant and really wonderful."
