The Environmental Media Association (EMA) has chosen Timberlake as the recipient of its Futures Award for opening an eco-friendly golf course in Memphis and supporting other environmental causes.
EMA President Debbie Levin praised Timberlake as "a great example of how you can lend your voice for positive change".
He will receive the prize at the Environmental Media Awards gala in Burbank, CA on October 15.
The EMA was launched in 1989 by All in the Family writer Norman Lear, his wife Lynn and their friends Alan and Cindy Horn.
Earlier this week, singer Kelly Clarkson expressed hope that she will one day collaborate with Timberlake on a song.
Timberlake will next be seen on the big screen in the thriller In Time, which opens on October 28 in the US and November 1 in the UK.
