The country star was in North Carolina at the time of the accident, where a driver allegedly damaged her Hidden Hills home by driving through its front gate.
Police arrested the driver at the scene of the crash and are awaiting toxicology results to determine if he was intoxicated at the time.
Rimes wrote on Twitter that if the man was indeed drunk, the incident should serve as a lesson on the dangers of driving while impaired.
"To address the accident that happened in front of our home this morning, everyone is ok and safe," the 'Can't Fight The Moonlight' musician tweeted.
"However, if drunk driving was involved it is terribly sad. My family could have been seriously injured and any situation where someone is drinking and driving should not be taken lightly. Needless to say, it was a very unsettling call to receive this morning. Thank goodness the young driver and everyone at home are ok."
The star later revealed that the collision had knocked out the electricity at her house, writing: "At home in LA. Going home to no power for the night cause the power lines outside our house need to be replaced cause of the accident."
Rimes previously revealed that she and husband Eddie Cibrian laugh about the media's coverage of their love life.
