Alan Partridge read an extract from his new autobiography at a Waterstones in London last night.

The Norwich-born broadcaster delighted fans by reading from I, Partridge: We Need to Talk About Alan, which was released last week.

Steve Coogan continued the blaze of publicity which has heralded the publication of his fictional icon's memoirs.

In footage shot by a member of the audience - which can be watched below - Partridge is seen beginning the reading by recounting his own birth.

The broadcaster also made a memorable appearance on Jonathan Ross's ITV1 chatshow over the weekend, during which he branded X Factor's Louis Walsh an "awful man".

Partridge will sign copies of the book at Waterstones in Norwich today.
