The 'No One' singer signed on as a co-producer for Lydia R Diamond's new play in June, but the production's organizers have now announced that she also plans to help write the soundtrack.
Producers said that the "exact placement of the music within the production is still being worked on", but promised that fans "should expect original music in the style of Alicia Keys that is used to help propel Lydia's story along".
Keys said that she is very grateful to be contributing to Stick Fly because she believes the musical will touch audiences.
"As someone who walked up and down this boulevard as a young girl, I cannot describe the thrill of having the opportunity of composing songs for a Broadway show," she said. "I love the humour and humanity of Stick Fly, and I'm so excited to be a part of the emotional journey this show will take audiences on."
Keys previously claimed that working with Diamond on Stick Fly is a "dream come true".
Stick Fly, which stars Mekhi Phifer and Dulé Hill, begins previews on November 18 at the Cort Theater, with a full opening planned for December 8.
