Salma Hayek: 'I like being independent'

Salma Hayek has opened up about her relationship with French billionaire François-Henri Pinault.

The Puss in Boots actress, who wed Pinault in February 2009, revealed that she appreciates the financial independence her career allows her.

"I work hard, I make my own living and I love it," Hayek told Redbook. "I like having financial independence."

She continued: "I don't ever want to have to depend on anyone completely. But when I have troubles sometimes, it's nice to have someone there to help."

In August, the actress confessed that she is happy to spoil her daughter Valentina, saying that she has no qualms about spending money on the 4-year-old.

The actress recently insisted that plastic surgery does not make women more beautiful, claiming there are more natural ways to fight the aging process.

Puss in Boots opens in cinemas on October 28.
