The book includes Leslie's favourites facts and memories of Parks and Recreation's fictional town of Pawnee, IN.
Poehler teased that she can't really take credit for much of Pawnee: The Greatest Town in America's humour.
"First of all, Leslie Knope wrote every single word of this book. Amy Poehler wrote zero. I didn't write it, but she did let me read it. Leslie thought it would be good for everyone in the whole US to know how special Pawnee is," Poehler told USA Today.
Poehler went on to suggest that she finds Leslie's love of her hometown truly admirable.
She explained: "She thinks Pawnee represents the best of America. Look, she's not deluded. It goes like this: New York, Paris, London, Chicago, maybe Istanbul, and then Pawnee. The book is a celebration of one great small town and all the good things that are found there."
Pawnee: The Greatest Town in America is now available for purchase in the US.
Parks and Recreation continues with new episode 'Pawnee Rangers' on Thursday at 8:30/9:30c on NBC.
