The musician was found dead of a suspected drug overdose in his room in the Raffaello Hotel in Chicago on Saturday. He was 40 years old.
"We are deeply saddened to announce that Mikey Welsh passed away unexpectedly today. He will forever be remembered as an amazing father, artist and friend. May he rest in peace," read a statement on the star's website.
Writing on his Twitter page on September 26, Welsh revealed that he had a dream that he would pass away while in Chicago.
"dreamt i died in chicago next weekend (heart attack in my sleep). need to write my will today," he posted.
He later added: "correction - the weekend after next."
