Comedy Poll: Who is the best British stand-up comedian?

Stand-up comedy is enjoying a wonderful renaissance in the UK. Theatres small and large across the country are packed with fans enjoying the best of British gagsmiths, and you can't switch on the telly most evenings without seeing one of our many top comics waxing lyrical.

So, to mark the launch of our new Comedy Section here at Digital Spy, we thought we'd find out your favourite stand-up.

Will it be Ricky Gervais? He's already won a few prizes in the past, as he may have mentioned once or twice. Or do you prefer Stewart Lee? Given his outspoken criticism of the Foster's Comedy God prize last year, he may well not thank you for voting for him, though!

If you think our shortlist is a bit limited, you'd be right! We couldn't even include all of our own favourites - there's no room for the wonderful Simon Amstell, Dylan Moran or Simon Munnery to name but three.
