On Wednesday, the 'When You Believe' singer was allegedly almost kicked off an airplane in Atlanta after she refused a request to buckle her seatbelt.
While Houston eventually allowed a flight attendant to buckle her belt, the incident sparked claims that the 48-year-old was intoxicated at the time.
However, an insider vehemently denied the reports, telling People that Houston was simply suffering from exhaustion.
"She wasn't drunk, drinking or on drugs; she was just exhausted," the source said.
A rep for Houston has yet to comment on the matter.
In June, the singer elected to continue receiving help for her drug and alcohol issues in spite of successfully completing a 30-day substance abuse programme.
Houston previously spent time in rehab in 2005 and 2006 for an alleged addiction to crack cocaine.
