The Gossip Girl actress, who became engaged to the Australian ex-cricketer earlier this month, claimed that their relationship never becomes "too serious".
"Shane makes me happy," she told The Mail On Sunday. "We have a lot of fun together, we laugh a lot and that's very important to me. I couldn't put up with 'serious' for too long."
Hurley also hit back at criticism of Warne's youthful new look, saying: "I don't care what anyone says about me smartening him up - we've both been around too long to care, and that stuff really isn't important. My family and my new family with Shane and his kids are what's important."
Hurley went on to address her divorce from Indian tycoon Arun Nayar in June and the impact their split had on her 9-year-old son Damien.
"Divorce is, of course, difficult for a child," she accepted. "I think what makes a massive difference to a child is if they see their parents are okay, and Damian knows that I am very happy now.
"He does get disappointed, though, when we are not all together on family outings and holidays... [but] Arun and I are still best friends - I'm too lazy to fight."
