Linda Cardellini and boyfriend Steven Rodriguez expecting first child

Linda Cardellini and boyfriend Steven Rodriguez have announced that they are expecting their first child together.

The Super actress will welcome the baby sometime in early 2012, reports People.

"They're excited to start a family together," a rep for the couple said in a statement.

Cardellini was previously involved with her Freaks and Geeks co-star Jason Segel and the pair dated for several years following the show's cancellation in 2000.

She has appeared in several other TV shows, most notably playing nurse Samantha Taggart in ER, and recently made a guest appearance as workaholic emergency room doctor Megan Tillman in CBS crime drama Person of Interest.

Cardellini's film roles include Velma Dinkley in the Scooby Doo movies, plus supporting parts in Brokeback Mountain, Super and Legally Blonde.

She most recently played troubled war veteran Kelli in Return, appearing alongside Michael Shannon, Mad Men star John Slattery and his wife Talia Balsam.
