Julianne Hough: 'I suffered from horrible acne'

Julianne Hough has revealed that she experienced "horrible" acne as a teenager.

The Footloose actress confessed that she struggled to cope with the skin condition when first beginning her career, but insisted that she feels much better now that she is healthier and her acne is under control.

"You try to tell yourself that you're fine and it's all good - and you really should be fine - but it definitely affects you. You want to do what you can to make you feel good," she explained to People.

"[Now], there's just a certain glow you have when you're with your loved ones. [But] I love to get glammed up and feel that my hair looks great, and my skin looks good [and] when my legs are shaved and I'm wearing high heels."

Hough, who is also the spokesperson for the ProActiv skin care system, went on to say that she is inspired by those who feel confident in themselves despite their flaws.

The 23-year-old added: "I think that how you were raised, no matter what size, what colour hair, anything - it comes from within and if you're confident on the outside and have a great personality and really love who you are internally, then that's what's beautiful."

Hough recently returned to Dancing with the Stars to perform alongside her brother Derek as well as Footloose co-star Kenny Wormald.
