Mariska Hargitay adopts baby boy named Andrew

Mariska Hargitay has adopted a second child with husband Peter Hermann.

The couple have become parents for the third time, welcoming son Andrew Nicolas Hargitay Hermann, according to Us Weekly.

Hargitay and Hermann adopted daughter Amaya Josephine earlier this year and are also parents to a 5-year-old son named August.

An insider told the publication. "[Andrew] was a preemie. He and Amaya are just a few months apart. Their hearts were so opened by the [first] adoption, so they couldn't imagine not taking the opportunity to bring another baby into the family."

The source added that the family are "very tired and overwhelmed... but overjoyed", saying that Law and Order: SVU star Hargitay is "thrilled and amazed with all the new blessings and great fortune".

Hargitay has previously revealed that the entire family was responsible for choosing Amaya's name, explaining that "everything is a family decision in our house".
